Every Umrah journey starts with one practical choice: land in Jeddah and go to Makkah first, or land in Madinah and visit Masjid an-Nabawi first. Both work well; the right answer depends on your route, family and budget.
1. Flying into Jeddah (JED)
Jeddah has the most flights from Pakistan. Saudia, PIA, Airblue, AirSial, Fly Jinnah, flynas and flyadeal all fly non-stop to Jeddah from different Pakistani cities. From Jeddah, Makkah is reached by road or by the Haramain High-Speed Railway.
Remember that men must enter Ihram before crossing the Miqat, which is usually done before or during the flight when flying straight to Jeddah.
2. Flying into Madinah (MED)
Starting in Madinah lets you rest and pray at Masjid an-Nabawi before continuing to Makkah, with Ihram from the Madinah Miqat (Dhul Hulayfah). PIA flies non-stop to Madinah from several cities, and flynas flies non-stop from Karachi.
3. Open-jaw tickets: the best of both
Many families fly into one city and out of the other, for example Islamabad → Madinah and Jeddah → Islamabad. This avoids back-tracking between the two holy cities. Ask us for an open-jaw fare; it is often similar in price to a normal return.
4. Baggage and Zamzam
Check that your fare includes checked baggage. Low-cost fares such as flynas Light include only a 7 kg cabin bag. Airlines have specific rules for carrying Zamzam water, so confirm with us before you fly home.
5. Best months for Umrah travel
Ramadan is the busiest and most expensive Umrah season. July, August, October and November usually offer lower fares and hotel rates, with cooler weather from November onwards.
